Success stories
High-quality data & risk mitigation
A Tier 1 global investment bank requested our support to achieve compliance with BCBS 239 and CCAR regulations by designing, mobilising and running their data management office.
We enabled self-sufficiency and sustainability through a detailed operating model, robust transition approach and diligent, transparent execution.
Throughout the 7+ year partnership, we worked with the bank to continuously evolve its data management strategy, framework, capabilities and the operating model of the new function. To enable cost benefit realisation, a new location was established in Pune, India. All services were transitioned to Pune and the bank was able to operate self-sufficiently.
Rapid product deployment, improved analytics & lower cost
A global universal bank requested our support to improve their data processes and platform which were not maturing rapidly enough to meet growing demand. Many of their data use cases were reactive rather than proactive with limited clarity on current maturity, gaps and existing analytics strengths. The scope was broad, including a complex transaction product with one billion transactions across eight booking countries. Together, we:
- Set out the architecture and platform enhancement roadmap
- Designed and built a reusable payments product and accelerated product deployment by linking data sources
The bank’s faster, more reliable and cheaper analytics unlocked revenue opportunities and identified c. $700m in cross-sell opportunities. Their cost of change was also substantially reduced, with the total cost of change falling from millions of dollars to c. $100k.
Data & Analytics @Scale
A Tier 1 global bank partnered with Capco to build-out and evolve its analytics platform and capabilities at scale to service demand for data, analytics and insights across divisions and functions. Big data was seen as a key business value driver and central to competitiveness, but the unit cost of analytics was very high. The bank had very limited scalability, their data processes and platform were not mature enough to keep up with data demand and many data use cases were reactive. Working closely with the client, we agreed a two-pronged approach that has been continuously refined and evolved over the lifetime of the partnership since 2019:
Data @Scale
- Set out the architecture and platform enhancement roadmap, increased the firm’s data literacy, embedded DQ processes and BCBS 239 compliance
- Obtained thematic data sharing agreements for 65 countries and enabled sourcing of ~ 500 source systems
Analytics @Scale
- Curated a single client view of customers across 17 billion rows of data. This identified $700m in client cross-selling opportunities and reduced operational losses by $50m
- Pivoted FinCrime and CLM processes to be trigger based. This reduced FTE by 60% and operating costs by $20m
Data sharing framework for a UK energy system operator
A leading UK energy operator requested our support to design and implement a scalable data sharing triage process to meet their regulatory requirements. Together with the client, we:
- Established governance, classification rules and workflow tooling to assess and manage external data requests
- Embedded the process into BAU operations with proactive triaging and Power BI reporting
The operator now has a consistent, auditable and regulator-aligned data sharing model. The new approach has allowed the operator to release 8 new public datasets and process 30+ data sharing requests per month, with response time of 5 business days.
