Greenfield digital bank for an incumbent, launched under budget
A Tier 1 UK retail bank asked us to help design, build and launch a new, cloud-native digital bank and brand for small businesses with a greenfield core banking platform including payments, cards, customer screening and real-time AML monitoring. Together, we:
- Developed a Kubernetes-based microservices estate in AWS with >100 deployments/day
- Used a Kafka event backbone with Google Cloud-based data platform and Zero Trust security architecture
- Became the 1st UK incumbent bank to deliver invoicing, receipt capture, and saving pots
The new bank launched to friends and family in 9 months with general release in just over 18 months. It was 5% under budget and has >140K new-to-bank business customers to date (14% market share) with 4.8+ rating on iOS and Android.
Optimized delivery on future-proof platform
A Tier 1 Bank requested our support to define a technology platform for their SME business. Together, we:
- Defined a technology north star and developed against this a list of over 100 technical epics
- Provided a deeper dive on each epic towards creating high-level solutions and evaluating complexity, effort and inter-epic dependencies
- Provided a view on how the technical constructs connect to the functional roadmap to help prioritize the sequencing of the platform epics
- Working from an optimized roadmap, the Bank coordinated delivery execution via dedicated Capco Engineering teams

Legacy application modernization
A US super regional bank requested our support to modernize and enhance their customer facing applications. Together, we:
- Delivered 600+ APIs modernizing their SOAP-based applications to REST
- Implemented a virtual onboarding alternative to modernize the lending origination process, drive operational efficiency and deliver superior UX
- Delivered key features on KYC, Customer Onboarding and Identification, Beneficial Ownership & Controlling Parties (BOCP), SSO and Notification Centre

Enterprise-wide test automation framework
A large financial institution requested our support to implement a holistic test automation framework to standardize and scale test automation processes across multiple teams. Together, we:
- Developed the frameworks to transform Testing Shared Services into an efficient factory model
- Reduced previous regression suite testing from 3 people over 3 weeks to 1 person over 2 days
- Shortened defect identification from 2-3 days to 2-3 hours
- Created additional people hours per cycle, which translated into an increase in overall test coverage per release
The institution achieved an overall improvement in software quality, with a 50% increase in testing-identified defects.
DevOps transformation
A major UK bank requested our support to accelerate its DevOps transformation journey. Working closely with the client, we:
- Performed a DevOps maturity assessment to build a transformation business case together
- Designed and implemented DevOps enablers and rolled out these out across the organization
- Established a continuous benefit realization mechanism
The bank was able to achieve standardized CI/CD adoption through templated pipelines; reduction of time to market through test automation; audit remarks closure through compliance as code, and the shift of operations activities left, resulting to better service reliability.

A Tier 1 global bank with one of the world’s largest Blue Prism deployments had serious control issues caused by limited visibility of their expanding RPA estate. Working together, we:
- Benchmarked the RPA capability against best practices
- Agreed an approach to industrialize the capability while defining the wider Automation strategy
- Overhauled the governance and operating model
- Created leadership capacity by delegating legacy financial and control issues
