To mark International Coaching Week, a number of Capco colleagues shared their reflections on coaching including the benefits and the important role that coaching plays at Capco.
As we mark International Coaching Week, I find myself reflecting on the positive impact coaching has had on my personal and professional growth. I’ve been with Capco for almost seven years, and I have come to deeply appreciate the value of coaching to unlock potential, achieve goals, and navigate challenges.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of my role at Capco has been my involvement in coaching. As a Wellbeing@Capco co-lead, I’ve seen firsthand how coaching can positively impact mental health and overall wellbeing. It’s not just about professional success; it’s about creating an environment where individuals feel supported, encouraged, and empowered to be their best selves.
Coaching has always been more than just a professional responsibility for me-- it’s a genuine passion. I’ve had the opportunity to coach several protégés, and each experience has reinforced my belief in the power of guidance, reflection, and honest feedback. The satisfaction I get from helping others reach their goals, overcome obstacles, and grow in confidence is immeasurable. There is something incredibly rewarding about seeing someone who was once uncertain about their path gain clarity, self-assurance, and a sense of direction. As a coach, I am often reminded of the importance of patience and active listening, as coaching is not about providing answers but about helping individuals discover their own solutions.
During my time at Capco, I’ve witnessed how coaching plays a pivotal role in the development of individuals at all levels. Whether it’s a seasoned professional looking to advance their career or a newcomer finding their footing, coaching provides the structure, encouragement, and resources necessary to thrive. It is often said that the best leaders are those who empower others, and I firmly believe that coaching is one of the most effective ways to achieve this. It’s an investment in people, and when people feel invested in, they tend to perform at their best.
In addition to the professional benefits, coaching has a profound impact on personal development. I’ve learned just as much from my protégés as they have from me. Through our conversations, I’ve gained valuable insights into different perspectives, honed my communication skills, and deepened my understanding of human behaviour. These lessons have not only made me a better coach but a better colleague and individual overall.
As we conclude International Coaching Week, I’m reminded of the power of coaching to transform lives. It is an ongoing journey, one that I am grateful to be a part of. The opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of others is something I deeply value, and I look forward to continuing this work for many years to come. Coaching, for me, is not just a role—it is a calling, and I am proud to be able to serve as a guide, mentor, and support system for those seeking growth and improvement.
