GenAI day: curiosity, confidence, conviction

A morning that smelled like the future

By half past eight the coffee machine was humming, the barista had already served the first espresso, and the smell of croissants filled the air. That’s how GenAI Day began, with the energy of a day that felt different from business as usual.

The AI Breakfast Club set the tone. Six demos from our AI Lab ran one after another, with colleagues leaning in around screens, asking questions, sparking ideas, and sharing laughs. Curiosity was everywhere.

One demo stood out. The Moral Machine, an MIT experiment that forces you to choose between surreal traffic scenarios (save the cat or the pedestrian?) had people debating ethics over their coffee. It was a reminder that AI isn’t only about efficiency. It’s about judgement, responsibility, and the human choices that come with new technology.

From curiosity to confidence

By lunchtime, curiosity had shifted into confidence. Bleachers was packed, and more than 70 people joined remotely for a deep dive into Capco Smart Suite.

The message was clear. Smart Suites are designed around client problems, not technology for its own sake. Clients don’t ask for “retrieval models.” They ask for faster onboarding, fewer compliance errors, and better customer experiences.

We now have eight modular suites tackling core challenges, from Compliance & Controls to Legacy Modernisation, Operational Excellence, and Strategic AI Advisory. Each suite can stand on its own or be combined. The flexibility reflects the reality that no two client journeys look the same.

This isn’t theory. Smart Suite is backed by working prototypes from our AI Labs and supported by materials that consultants can use immediately in client conversations. It gives us the ability to speak about AI with confidence, even if we’re not technical specialists.

Conviction from leadership

The evening session brought conviction. Senior leaders shared the stage with OpenAI, and the message was crystal clear: Capco isn’t simply experimenting with AI, we’re embedding it into everything we do.

CEO Annie Rowland didn’t mince words:
“AI isn’t optional. It’s at the heart of how Capco delivers value. Every consultant is now an AI-infused consultant.”

UK Managing Partner Richard Lewis emphasised what makes us different:
“What sets Capco apart is our financial services expertise, our AI Lab prototypes that de-risk investment, and the trusted relationships we’ve built with clients.”

Chris Probert, Global Head of Data & AI, captured the shift in momentum:
“In the past year, client conversations have moved from curiosity to action, from hype to solving real problems.”

And Sam Riordan, Executive Director, brought it down to the practical level:
“Clients don’t always frame their challenges as ‘AI problems.’ It’s about listening for pain points, whether compliance, operational pressure, or customer demand, and linking them back to Smart Suite solutions.”

Why it matters

The announcement of our partnership with OpenAI wasn’t just symbolic. It gives Capco early access to products, training, and co-development opportunities. For clients, that brings credibility and reassurance. For us, it means we’re learning and innovating alongside one of the most important players in AI.

It cements our position. We’re not following the AI wave, we’re shaping how it is applied responsibly and effectively in financial services.

Closing on a high

As the formal sessions wrapped up, colleagues stayed on to share street food and drinks. The pride in what’s been built so far was obvious, and so was the excitement for what comes next.

GenAI Day showed what makes Capco different. We’re not just talking about AI, we’re building it, applying it, and living it. For our clients. For each other. And for the people who will join us to take it even further.

If you’re curious about AI, confident in your expertise, and ready to make your mark in financial services, Capco is the place to do it. Join us and help shape what comes next.
