I grew up just outside Oxford in a small village. My early life was complicated, adjusting to life in a wheelchair and proving to the education system that I could contribute fully to the debate despite my obvious physical constraints. My belief in equality and that everyone has a voice has shaped how I have approached my personal and professional lives. It also taught me to be pragmatic and patient, to seek compromise and a way forward. My family taught me that if you work hard enough and bring people with you, you will succeed. We were also encouraged to have an international outlook and to work hard to develop our talents.

I enjoy meeting people and problem solving. Consulting has allowed me to be in a room with clients, examine how we can approach a problem differently, and effect genuine change. No problem or challenge is too big to overcome. My friend Adil told me about Capco and said I’d fit in well with the company’s modern and less conservative approach. Nearly five years later, those statements still ring true. The passion of those who interviewed me, and the desire to be different, made Capco a simple choice.

My time at Capco has had many highlights:

Becoming a Delivery Lead and promotion to Managing Principal

Supporting our clients to implement technology that has benefited their customers

Writing a paper on Digital Financial Inclusion with the industry association UK Finance

Meeting and marrying my wife Rupi - our first date was at the Ace Hotel, just around the corner
from our office in Shoreditch, and we had three legs to our wedding, including one in India

And finally, visiting over 15 countries during our weekends in the space of one calendar year.

My professional experiences have been varied and rewarding. I have supported clients with genuine regulatory problems that have been covered in the media, implemented new technology for customers, and helped redesign key processes. Capco empowers you to build client relationships and prove you can deliver.

I am very proud of the teams we have built. Clients have told me that we made a genuine impact in driving change, in a practical and human way. That we built a genuinely diverse team which seamlessly blended with their own. That we implemented change faster and more effectively than one of our much larger competitors. That the energy and commitment of the team was there for all to see. And that the outcomes we delivered helped the bank serve its customers better.

Beyond work, I am the Chair of a school governing body, an Arsenal season ticket holder and a regular film watcher. Rupi and I love to travel and experience new cultures. I learn something from everyone I meet in life: we live in north London and we can often be found wandering around the shops, cafes and museums the city has to offer.

I’m often told that my ever-present smile and enthusiasm for life is infectious. I have always believed that if you smile at life, and ask for help when it is needed, life will smile back at you. I have always wanted to change the world for the better, because at the end of the day we are all human beings. As Martin Luther King said: “People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.”
