“We are not consultant clones; we are respected as individuals at Capco.”

Joined Capco:  2018
Role:                   Principal Consultant
Primary skills:   PMO, Change, Agile, Scrum Master, Resourcing
Interests:           I am a fully qualified human and equine sports massage therapist and spend most of my weekends riding out racehorses and treating them. I also love the countryside and animals!

It was only when I was approached to join Capco that becoming a consultant made a lot of sense. I had worked in several financial services companies in Edinburgh and usually found that I would get bored and move on looking for a fresh challenge after a couple of years. Each interview with Capco felt more like a relaxed chat than an interrogation. The open culture and friendly atmosphere stood out immediately.

I realised that being a consultant would allow me to expand my change management experience, try a wider variety of roles, whilst growing and developing within one company.  I would even have a coach and a performance manager to provide guidance.

My first role for Capco was as a PMO manager on a very intense programme that involved reacting quickly to changing circumstances, collaborating with challenging stakeholders, as well as some travel to London. It was certainly hard work and not straightforward (are consulting projects ever?). However, it turned out to be groundbreaking within the transfer agency marketplace, and I am immensely proud to have been part of it. I am now a Scrum Master, learning new skills and seeing programme life through a different lens.

Besides client work, I am a Mental Health First Aider and am involved in Capco’s Mental Health Network and have helped set up Mental Health Scotland. Health and well-being are an integral part of Capco’s workplace culture and are especially important during a pandemic where we have quickly adapted to working from home. The company has a flexible approach and continually looks to find ways to ensure individuals are given whatever support they may need.

I have received excellent guidance from my appointed coach and performance managers throughout my career at Capco, and I feel passionate about being a coach myself. Developing proteges and looking after those you performance manage builds your network. There is nothing better than a Capco social event where we can catch up with colleagues on different client engagements and hear about how things are going on.

Capco supports entrepreneurial and creative flair, giving you the autonomy and space to explore and develop your career. There is a highly inclusive culture, and we are encouraged to Be Yourself At Work.

We are not consultant clones; we are respected as individuals, making Capco even more refreshing and dynamic as a workplace.
