Leading experts to discuss the future of financial regulation, innovation and management

The inaugural annual conference of the Zicklin-Capco Institute Paper Series in Applied Finance will take place on Thursday, February 9th at the Zicklin School of Business in New York City. Hosted by the Capco Institute and the Zicklin School of Business, the conference welcomes leading scholars and practitioners to discuss the current state, and future, of the financial sector and offer guidance for an increasingly complex and turbulent market. The one-day event will take place in room 14-220 of the William and Anita Newman Vertical Campus Conference Center, located at 55 Lexington Avenue.

As the financial services industry slowly begins to recover from the recent economic crisis, businesses are forced to operate in an increasingly regulated and uncertain environment. Conference attendees will come away with a deeper understanding of how financial services will function in the future and receive practical guidance on how to prepare for regulations that will soon be implemented and ultimately affect all manner of business.

The conference will feature four panels, represented by many of the world’s leading institutions:

  • “Impact of global capital adequacy regulation on operations and profitability” – Chaired by Linda Allen, William F. Aldinger Chair in Banking and Finance, Zicklin School of Business
  • “The evolving financial regulatory environment” – Chaired by H. Rodgin Cohen, Partner and Senior Chairman, Sullivan & Cromwell LP
  • “Future of financial services” – Chaired by Christopher Hamilton, partner, Capco
  • “Managing risks in the post-crisis world – can the old tools still be applied” – Chaired by Sandeep Vishnu, Partner, Capco

Speakers at the conference are leading authorities in finance, including members of regulatory bodies, academics, senior executives and consultants. Speakers include: Sean Culbert, Partner, Capco; Seth E. Lipner, Professor of Law, Zicklin School of Business; and Joe Anastasio, Partner, Capco. View the full agenda.

Dr. Terrence Martell, Saxe Distinguished Professor of Finance, Zicklin School of Business, and Director, Zicklin-Capco Institute Paper Series in Applied Finance: “As financial markets will be faced with significant uncertainty for the foreseeable future, the Zicklin School of Business and Capco saw the need to offer true guidance and insight, rather than purely theoretical and academic solutions. The knowledge of the esteemed speakers and panelists participating in the conference will influence decisions made both today and far into the future.”

Ismail Amla, Capco CEO, North America: “Our partnership with the Zicklin School offers an incredible opportunity to advance the passionate debate between academics, practitioners and regulators and help solve the complex industry issues. This conference is only the beginning, and we look forward to working with the Zicklin School to develop ideas and actions that will ensure a sustainable financial industry for years to come.”
