World’s leading financial business and academic thinkers convene in London at Fourth Annual Cass-Capco Conference on Risk to debate ongoing changes to the regulatory framework and their effects on the financial services sector

The fourth annual conference of the Cass-Capco Institute on Risk - taking place on 14 April at Cass Business School, London - provides a unique forum for financial services practitioners and academics to debate how risk can be managed in an increasingly regulated and economically strained environment.

Developing more effective risk management processes in financial institutions has been a key part of the response to the financial crisis. This continued focus on risk has been driven not only by regulators, but also to an increasing extent by financial institutions themselves, who do not want to see a repeat of the events of 2007-08.

Speakers at the conference include world authorities on risk from both the academic and business communities. Keynote speeches will be given by Thomas C. Wilson, Chief Risk Officer, Allianz SE, and Tobias Guldimann, Chief Risk Officer, Member of the Executive Board, Credit Suisse Group AG.

Additionally, the conference also offers five discussion panels on the following topics: Reputational Risk, Financial Risk Management, Management of Exchange Rate Systems, Regulatory Risk and Operational Risk. The conference will address many of the Risk-related issues featured in the latest issue of The Capco Institute’s Journal of Financial Transformation.

Mark Connolley, Capco UK Finance, Risk and Compliance Lead & Partner: “Banks and investment firms are coming under increasing pressure to monitor and improve the quality of their risk management. Capco and Cass believe that the debate between industry practitioners and leading academics will yield new and unique insights to the increasingly complex environment, better positioning the industry to navigate regulatory requirements and drive competitive advantage.”

Professor Steven Haberman, Deputy Dean of Cass Business School: “As a major business school specialising in finance and the financial sector, the proper assessment of risk is at the heart of much of what we research and teach at Cass. This event brings together risk experts from both academia and industry to determine how financial institutions should respond to the challenges facing risk management in the context of higher levels of regulation.”

The conference will be invaluable opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the latest thinking in this area. If you are interested in attending please contact Robert Akam or Joe Eldridge on 020 7400 4480, alternatively email or
