Confronting challenges
The bank faced numerous problems with its existing system development life cycle (SDLC), which affected IT product delivery, quality, compliance and risk management. Without an enterprise-level governance model, SDLC was not consistently followed throughout the organization, resulting in time delays, missed requirements and rising costs. Multiple technology groups often modified the SDLC methodology to suit the needs of their own lines of business.

Our client engaged Capco to design, build and implement a new enterprise-level gating and governance process to ensure sound delivery of IT products and services, adoption of best practices, and standard and consistent use of tools across the organization’s technology solutions.

Capco followed a phased approach to ensure timely completion of the development, build and pilot rollout activities. We developed a weekly reporting dashboard as well as enterprise gating assessment packages to monitor the project’s progress. Once fully implemented, the enterprise gating and governance process will help the bank improve IT delivery process efficiency and lower costs by identifying issues and risks earlier.
