How much reliability or recoverability or capacity is enough? That’s a question that some CTOs would like business line managers to be able to answer. Can CTOs put a price on various IT resources and services and then allow business managers to decide, within the bounds of safety and compliance, how much of those resources or services they wish to pay for? And does having that cost information broken down to product line or business unit control demand and allow CFOs to measure product line profitability?
